DESCRIPTION:American Legion National Commander to speak in Fergus Falls on April 15\n\n~~ Members of the media and public are invited to attend ~~\n\nAmerican Legion National Commander Daniel J. Seehafer of Wisconsin is coming to Fergus Falls and will speak on issues of importance to Minnesota veterans.\n\nSeehafer will speak about how The American Legion is saving lives and changing lives. He will address the "Be the One" campaign to prevent veteran suicides.\n\n"Preventing veteran suicide is more than a goal for The American Legion. It is a mission\," Seehafer said. "We should all be the one to ask veterans how they are doing and to care about their well-being."\n\nHe will visit Fergus Falls Post 30 at 2010 Pebble Lake Road for a lunch and presentation starting at 11:45 a.m. Monday\, April 15\, and talk with veterans\, community leaders and local residents. Any local residents wishing to attend can contact the post.\n\nThe American Legion also is focused on stopping veteran claim sharks\, smooth implementation of the PACT Act\, eliminating concurrent receipt on military retirement pensions\, parity for the federal definition of a veteran\, improving quality of life for servicemembers\, paying the Coast Guard during federal shutdowns\, and passage of an amendment to protect the U.S. flag from desecration.\n\nThe American Legion was founded in 1919 on the Four Pillars of veterans' rehabilitation\, national defense\, Americanism (such as baseball and the flag) and youth.
