This is a fungal infection that you can get if you are a gardener\, are out in the woods and around rotting wood\, etc.  It has spread from his lungs into his kidneys\, liver and spleen.  They have him on a specific\, very expensive anti fungal antibiotic that he will have to take for at least 6 months up to a year.  His energy level is non existent.  He is very short of breath and coughing a lot and in a lot of pain.  It will be a long recovery with ups and downs.
