SUMMARY:Camp Emily
DESCRIPTION:Camp Emily is a grief support camp for youth ages 7 to 18 who have experienced the death of someone they loved. Newly bereaved as well as those who have been on the path of grief for some time are welcome. Parents or guardians are asked to attend and participate. All groups will be divided by age and facilitated by bereavement social workers and counselors.\n\n\n\nGrief needs expression. Helping kids and their families grieve can have a lasting impact on their lives since death affects the entire family system.  Camp Emily will provide a supportive atmosphere of acceptance and understanding where children\, adolescents\, and their parents or guardians can safely express their grief and move toward healing.  Education will be provided regarding that natural process of grief and the "normalcy" of grief feelings and grief reactions. The experience of sharing with others who are in the same situation can be comforting and reassuring and can help to soften the feelings of isolations and loneliness. Participants will be encouraged to express their feelings and reactions verbally as well as non-verbally through the use of art projects and play.\n\n\n\nThanks to the generosity of our donors and community supporters\, Camp Emily is offered free of charge. Camp Emily takes place the second Saturday in October.  After your registration is received\, a member of the Camp Emily team will contact you to finalize your registration.\n\nOnline registration available here.  For questions\, or to register by phone\, call LB Homes at 218.998.1400.\n\n\n\nAll meals and snacks will be provided.  If your child has allergies or special needs\, please let us know on when you register so arrangements can be made.  If you are traveling from out of town\, special lodging rates may be available.
