DESCRIPTION:We love to support the local arts here at Union\, and as part of the Hinge Artist program though Springboard for the Arts\, we are thrilled to be hosting a community "open-mic" night here at the U! Monday\, December 21st\, will be a chance for you to come and express your poems\, stories\, comedy\, lyrics\, etc.\, with our community. Come and share! Our two local "artists-in-residence" wil be hosting this event with their poetry and visual arts - bios found below. Do you have a story to tell? A poem to recite? A song to sing? Do it here!\n\n\n\nCaitlin Scarano is a poet in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee PhD creative writing program. She was a finalist for the 2014 Best of the Net Anthology and the winner of the 2015 I...ndiana Review Poetry Prize\, judged by Eduardo Corral. She has two poetry chapbooks: The White Dog Year (dancing girl press\, 2015) and The Salt and Shadow Coiled (Zoo Cake Press\, 2015).\n\n\n\nMaria Stabio is a first generation Filipino-American artist and curator. Her current work addresses feelings of loneliness and isolation through the use of comedic text combined with the painted image. She graduated with a BFA in Painting from Boston University and an MFA in Visual Arts from Columbia University. In 2012\, she was a recipient of the Artist in Residence Fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar\, serving as artist in residence and adjunct faculty for one academic year in Doha\, Qatar. She is a co-founder of Trackside Studios and Torrance Shipman Gallery in Brooklyn\, New York. She currently lives and works in New York. For more information\, visit mariastabio.com.
