DESCRIPTION:See the amazing process of glass blowing when Jon Offutt sets up his mobile glass blowing studio behind the Nurses Cottage on the Beautiful Historic Kirkbride Campus in Fergus Falls\, MN. Demonstrations will be performed hourly for 35-40 minutes.\n\n\n\nLocation\n\nThe Nurses Cottage at the Kirkbride\n\n32 Cottage Rd\n\nFergus Falls\, MN 56537\n\nMap & Directions\n\n\n\nHours\n\nThursday: Sept. 22nd 10 am\, 11 am\, 2 pm\, 3 pm\n\nFriday: Sept. 23rd 4 pm\, 5 pm\, 6pm\, 7pm\n\n...\n\nAll times are open to the public. If you have a larger group please contact Tim Litt @ 218-205-8439 so we can have enough seating available for everyone.\n\n\n\nBio\n\nJon Offutt plays with fire. At his glassblowing studio in Fargo named after the Roman god of fire Mulciber (The House Of Mulciber) he uses roaring\, 2\,000 degree heat as a tool to transform molten glass into beautiful\, award-winning glass vessels and sculptures.\n\n\n\nJon earned an M.F.A. in glass from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale\, and he passes along his knowledge to new students of glass. He also demonstrates his craft for the public and to a new generation as he travels with his Mobile Studio.\n\n\n\nThis Project was is supported by Springboard For The Arts and Partnership For Health through their Art4Health Program. The results of the mobile studio will be an ongoing project called "Geoglassing\," where small glass flowers will be created and then used as geocaches in the Fergus Falls Area. The project is designed to promote the use of art to promote healthy activities such as the popular pastime of Geocaching.
