SUMMARY:Painting with a Prismatic Palette\; Oil Plein Air with Jack Dant
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide a demonstration and overview of the plein air painting process using a Payne's Grey underpainting and the prismatic palette to create the effect of atmosphere and distance in a painting created on location. Students will be invited to initiate their own painting during the class\, and the instructor will be present during the open paint for further consultation. In the event of rain\, the class will be taught indoor from photographic reference supplied by the instructor. Materials Needed: Oil Paints\, preferably one warm and one cool version of each primary color (example: Cad Yellow light and Cad Yellow\, Orange\, Red\, Alizarine Crimson\, Cerulean Blue and Ultramarine Blue)\, white and black   the instructor's primary brand is Winsor Newton Artist Colors (Not Winton)\; at least one painting panel or stretched canvas\, preferably linen\, approximately 9"x12"\; Brushes (Bristle brushes are preferred)\; a portable painting easel (French easel\, pochade box\, or similar\; a palette cup for medium\; paper towels\, portable brush cleaner\, odorless mineral spirits\, linseed oil (instructor will bring if not available)\, plastic bag for garbage\, bag to carry all gear\, etc. Students may contact the instructor in the event that they do not have access to a portable easel to make arrangements to borrow one at no cost. $25 members/ $30 non-members per session.
