The work of artist and Fergus Falls resident Nancy XiaoRong Valentine will be on display in an exhibition titled "Endless Scroll..." Jan. 14-Feb. 28 in the Waage Gallery on the Fergus Falls campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Valentine describes herself as a self-taught water-medium artist who draws technical inspiration from her Chinese heritage. Many of her works communicate her affinity for minimal color and her appreciation of organic line work, and they often focus on the natural and the feminine form. Her current mediums of focus are watercolor, gouache and Chinese ink. She said the exhibit, entitled Endless Scroll …, “is a nod to social media platforms like tumblr and Instagram, where users have the ability to consume copious amounts of media and imagery featuring societal constructions of beauty at rates like never before.” An artists’ reception is scheduled for 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in Legacy Hall. The Charles Beck Gallery is open during regular campus hours, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
