Future Ready Workforce Grant Awarded to the Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce
The Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a “Future Ready Workforce Grant” from the Greater Twin Cities United Way and the Minnesota Chamber Foundation to amplify quality work experience for youth in the area. United Way’s Future Ready Workforce Fund invests in partnerships focused on expanding the number of high-quality work experiences for young people. This powerful partnership between the Minnesota Chamber Foundation, Greater Twin Cities United Way and local chambers of commerce seeks to bridge the gap between public education and employment systems, ensuring that all Minnesota students have access to wealth-building and purpose-driven careers.
“We value this opportunity to build on the work already underway at the Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce,” said Lisa Workman, President of the Fergus Chamber. “This is a win-win. Employers can showcase career pathways, and students have the opportunity for hands-on experience to explore future careers.”
The Fergus Falls Chamber was one of eleven chambers of commerce in the state to receive the Future Workforce Ready Fund Grant. Total awards disbursed to the chambers totaled $425,000. The Fergus Falls Chamber was awarded $40,000, which will be reimbursable to businesses that host a paid student internship in a high-demand growth field such as nursing, CDL, some manufacturing positions, maintenance employees, etc. The focus will be on high-demand and high-growth jobs that have a median salary of $37,000 or higher.
The Fergus Falls Chamber has an application ready for businesses to apply for grant funds and will be working in coordination with the Fergus Falls School District’s Work-Based Learning Program. CLICK HERE to access the business application.
