Student Intern Wage Reimbursement Grant 2025

Employers in the region who provide a high-quality paid internships in a high-demand growing career area such as STEM (science, technology, engineering & math), healthcare, social services, transportation, trades, manufacturing, education, childcare, public service, and general business may apply for wage reimbursement for intern(s). In addition, the grants may also fund student needs such as transportation assistance, tools, or supplies.

Funds provided to the Fergus Falls Area Chamber of Commerce are available through a “Future Ready Workforce Grant” from the Greater Twin Cities United Way, the Minnesota Chamber Foundation, and the State of Minnesota Dept. of Employment & Economic Development (DEED) and a collaboration with Lakes Country Service Cooperative and High Tech Kids.

Process for Employers

Employ a student intern in a qualifying career area Interns must be between 14-22 years old, high school students preferred Interns must be paid a minimum of $12.50 per hour Interns must be a W-2 employee and should work a minimum of 40 hours total Register your business and intern below Submit wage reimbursement requests by the 5th of each month

Paid internships are reimbursed up to $15.00/hour with a maximum of $500 of student intern wages (per intern). Businesses with interns working in STEM related fields are eligible for an additional $1250 in wage reimbursements. Reimbursements are anticipated to be mailed within 30 days of request received.
