Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
On Saturday, May 14, 2011 - the rural and city letter carriers in the Otter Tail County communities of Fergus Falls, Erhard, Battle Lake, Henning, Pelican Rapids, Vinning, Vergas, Dent, Underwood, New York Mills, and Richville will deliver much more than mail when they walk and drive along their postal routes. They will also collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers participating in the 19th annual NALC National Food Drive - the largest one-day food drive in the nation. The donated food will be distributed directly to local food pantries. United Way of Otter Tail County and the National Association of Letter Carriers are pleased to partner with this event and appreciate the support of the communities in Otter Tail County.
Last year Otter Tail County Letter Carriers collected over 9,000 pounds of food. The goal is to surpass this amount this year as the need at food shelves has had such an increase of senior citizens and working families.
If you are not able to leave food at your mailbox on May 14th, you may bring your items to your local post office on Friday the 13th or Monday the 16th. Gifts of cash/checks are also accepted and they can be directly written out to your local food shelf.
