Otter Tail County Historical Society's 85th Annual Meeting/Dinner
Otter Tail County Historical Museum features Clay Jenkinson
Nationally recognized humanities scholar, author and performer Clay Jenkinson is the featured speaker at the Otter Tail County Historical Society's 85th annual meeting/dinner on Thursday, November 1, at Legacy Hall on the MState Fergus Falls campus. Social hour runs from 5:30-6:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30, with the program shortly thereafter.
Clay Jenkinson is one of the most entertaining public speakers in the United States. His performances are always humorous, educational and thought provoking. He is also one of the nation's leading interpreters of Thomas Jefferson. He has lectured about and played Jefferson throughout the country and hosts the nationally syndicated radio program The Thomas Jefferson Hour. Clay also plays other historical figures including Meriwether Lewis, Robert Oppenheimer and Theodore Roosevelt.
Awarded the National Humanities Medal by President George W. Bush, Jenkinson was the first public humanities scholar to present a program at a White House sponsored event when he portrayed Thomas Jefferson for President and Mrs. Clinton. For the Otter Tail County Historical Society Clay will portray Theodore Roosevelt. An American giant, Roosevelt ranks among the top five presidents in U.S. history. He is certainly one of the most colorful individuals who ever held the highest office. The mere mention of his name inspires smiles and imitations of his toothy falsetto.
Tickets for the dinner are $25 for OTCHS members, $30 for nonmembers. Special thanks to the generosity of Otter Tail Power Company, the Adams Family Foundation and Quality Circuits for making Mr. Jenkinson's performance possible. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling 218-736-6038 or visiting www.otchs.org.
