Author Jan D. Payne Is a member of Western Writers of America and Women Writing the West and lives in the Leech Lake area of northern Minnesota with her husband and three big dogs—Kaibab, Rudi, and Orrin.

Jan D Payne lived in the Four Corners area of Navajoland, graduating from Shiprock High School before leaving for college and medical school. She attempts to reflect in her fictional Marin Sinclair book series, centered in Dinétah, the high regard she holds for the land and the people of the Navajo Nation.
