HR Generalist / Payroll & Benefits Administrator

Job Summary:
The HR Generalist / Payroll & Benefits Administrator is responsible for processing payroll, employee benefits, leave programs, and related activities while also supporting key human resources functions. This role focuses more on processing, coordination, communication, and employee support rather than high-level payroll strategy or advanced technical administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration:
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule for hourly, salaried, and seasonal employees.
- Assist with processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Review employee timecards for completeness and accuracy
- Enter payroll changes including new hires, wage changes, deductions, and employee updates
- Assist with payroll corrections and employee payroll questions
- Maintain payroll records and employee information
- Process garnishments and other payroll deductions as directed
- Help prepare payroll-related reports and documentation
- Support compliance with company payroll procedures and policies
Benefits Administration:
- Assist employees with benefit enrollments and changes
- Process benefit forms and maintain accurate records
- Support open enrollment activities and employee communications
- Help employees navigate benefit questions and resources
- Assist with Evidence of Insurability (EOI) forms and related documentation
- Coordinate payroll deductions related to employee benefits
- Support COBRA administration and employee continuation coverage processes.
Leave of Absence Administration
- Track employee leaves, PTO balances, and related documentation
- Assist employees with leave paperwork and required forms
- Coordinate communication between employees, supervisors, and HR regarding leave requests
- Maintain accurate leave records and documentation
Employee Support
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, leave, deductions, and HRIS systems.
- Provide education and resources to employees regarding benefit offerings, payroll, and leave of absence processes.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities related to payroll and benefits setup.
HR Support:
- Provide general HR support and collaborate with the HR team on various HR initiatives and projects as needed.
- Maintain employee records and ensure HRIS data accuracy.
Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact and professionalism.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information systems (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Pay: $22-$26/hour (based on experience)
