Economic Development Director

THE OPPORTUNITY
As Economic Development Director, a new role reporting to the City Administrator, you will develop and implement strategies for business attraction, retention, and expansion & serve as liaison between the city, business community, development agencies, and regional partners. You will manage incentive initiatives and implement strategic plans to drive investment, job creation, and business development in Fergus Falls.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead business recruitment and expansion initiatives
Track and manage prospect activity and maintain a lead/prospect database
Develop and manage strategic economic development plans and strategies
Prepare reports and metrics for Administration and City Council
Advocate for local economic development priorities at all levels of government
Serve as liaison to business groups, regional development organizations, chambers of commerce, and government agencies & engage local stakeholders
Promote the community to local, regional, and national business audiences
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of related experience or any equivalent combination of experience
Experience working with public agencies, business leaders, and nonprofit boards preferred
COMPENSATION
2025 Pay Range: $94,474- $141,669
