Attorney (Associate), Labor & Employment Team – Fergus Falls Office

Within the Labor and Employment practice group at Pemberton Law, Associates can expect to provide human resources support and advise public entities (school, city, and county employers). This position will also support partners with complex labor and employment matters including, but not limited to; employment litigation, collective bargaining agreements, defending public entities, workplace investigations, labor negotiations, workplace trainings, contract issues, medical leaves, wage and hour, workplace misconduct, and employee separations. Our work is fast-paced and challenging, but also mentally stimulating and interesting. Essential Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to ascertain the details and merits of each case.
  • Conduct research using legislation, case law, and other legal texts as sources to decide on mode of operation.
  • Draft legal texts, including reports, contracts, and appeals.
  • Represent clients at meetings and hearings.
  • Remain up to date on changes to legislation.
  • Complete all other tasks assigned.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Perceptive and meticulous, with a thorough understanding of law.

Experience

  • Prior law firm experience is preferred but not required.
  • Pemberton Law will train suitable candidates with a law degree and licensed to practice in Minnesota.

Parameters

  • Full-time, Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm equaling 37.5 hours per week.
  • In-office.

Additional Information

Pemberton Law offers a competitive wage crediting education and experience. This position is non-supervisory and is paid on a salaried basis. Physical requirements are sitting for extended periods and lifting/moving file boxes depending on the needs of the day. Travel to and from client locations is required.
