Future Ready Workforce Grant Benefited Many Students
Earlier this year, the Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce was awarded a “Future Ready Workforce Grant” from the Greater Twin Cities United Way and the Minnesota Chamber Foundation to amplify work experiences for youth in the area. The Chamber paid $26,727.39 to businesses for wage reimbursement for student interns in high-demand career areas (like nursing, CDL, manufacturing, technicians, construction trades, child care, education, maintenance, and more). Sixty-five students benefited from this program, at 24 different businesses. A total of $1,715 was spent on student support including transportation, training, tools, and other work-related expenses.
The Fergus Falls Chamber applied for a second round of Future Ready Workforce grant funds. If awarded a grant, the Chamber will offer a wage reimbursement program in 2025. The application process for businesses to apply for funds is simple. Please watch for information from the Chamber about this program.
Jaden Powers, an intern at Advanced Auto Care, was one of the many interns benefiting from this program.
