Refuse Collector

THE OPPORTUNITY

Full-time position working in the Public Works department. This excellent opportunity is responsible for collecting refuse on residential and commercial routes. This position will work under the general supervision of the Street and Refuse Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drives a collection vehicle over a designated route, picking up disposed municipal solid waste.
• Operates refuse packer truck to load and compress refuse.
• Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance as needed and keeps equipment clean.
• Performs duties in a safety conscious manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience collecting refuse/recycling using a “packer” or “sidearm” truck
• Must possess a valid Class B License with air brake endorsement
• All equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

COMPENSATION

The starting hourly pay rate for this position is $26.02/hr.

Pay range: $26.02-$33.05
