Light Equipment Operator

THE OPPORTUNITY

Full-time position working in the Public Works department. This position operates a variety of trucks and light equipment used in construction, maintenance and repair activities while performing semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of city streets. This position will work under the general supervision of the Street and Refuse Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates trucks and equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, unloading of equipment, supplies and materials.
• Operates pneumatic tools and other powered equipment to maintain street and utility systems.
• Operates crack filling and black top patching equipment.
• Operates street sweeper.
• Performs routing maintenance on city streets.
• Plows, hauls, and removes snow from city streets.
• Repairs and installs street signs.
• May be assigned to tasks or work duties in other departments dependent on the need.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Relevant work experience in construction field or trades is a plus
• Must possess a valid Class B License with air brake endorsement
• All equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

COMPENSATION

The starting hourly pay rate for this position is $26.02/hr.

Pay range: $26.02-$33.05
