Making a Splash: Fergus Falls Aquatic Center Ribbon Cutting Marks a Dream Realized
On Monday, June 2, laughter, cheers, and the unmistakable splash of a well-timed cannonball marked the long-awaited grand opening of the Fergus Falls Aquatic Center. Years of dreaming, planning, fundraising, and building came to a joyful crescendo as the community gathered to celebrate a milestone that was truly many summers in the making.
A project born from vision and persistence, the aquatic center’s journey began with a passionate committee of local champions: Bridget Leonard, Justin Arneson, Angela Fiedler, and Karoline Gustafson were all present, all members of the original aquatic center committee. Their tireless efforts, along with the support of countless individuals and organizations, turned a ripple of an idea into a wave of community pride.
As part of the opening festivities, City Administrator Andrew Bremseth, Mayor Anthony Hicks, Senator Jordan Rasmusson, and committee lead Bridget Leonard addressed the crowd, reflecting on the commitment and collaboration that brought the project to life. Bridget shared heartfelt thanks and reminded everyone that dreams like this are built by caring communities.
Then came the moment everyone was waiting for—honoring a promise made long ago, Bridget, Karoline, and Justin stepped up to the edge of the pool and launched into the first official cannonballs, sending up a splash worthy of the occasion. The pool officially opened for public use.
The Fergus Falls Aquatic Center (located at 600 Randolph Ave) is open 7 days a week from 12:00-7:00 pm, weather permitting. Memberships (daily, 10 punch card pass, or annual) can be purchased online at https://cityoffergusfalls.revtrak.net/rw-aquatics/ or the aquatic center. (In the event of weather closures to the aquatic center and splashpad, updates will be posted on Facebook, the City’s website, and the Park & Rec cancellation line: 218-332-5800.)
The Fergus Falls Aquatic Center is more than just a pool—it’s a symbol of what’s possible when vision meets persistence, and when community leaders turn big ideas into action. Here's to many seasons of sun-soaked memories ahead!
Let the summer begin!
