51st Invitational Art Show Opens Today at M State
A Lovely Display of Area Talents
Fergus Falls, Minn. – The annual Invitational Art Show is back for another season at M State, marking the event’s 51st year of supporting and showcasing local artists.
An open-invite representation of the Fergus Falls area’s abundant creative talents and sources of inspiration, the show shines a spotlight on a diverse range of artistic skill sets and mediums.
“This year, there are 92 works of art representing 57 artists and many different mediums,” says Lori Charest, M State ceramics instructor, art collection curator and longtime organizer of the Invitational. “Displaying a wide variety of work cohesively is always a challenge, but things came together nicely this year. The show is a lovely display of area talents.”
Original paintings, sculptures, drawings, pottery, textiles and other creative works are on exhibit. Many are for sale to the public. M State does not charge an entry fee for the Invitational and does not take any commission on works sold.
The show opened at the Charles Beck Gallery today, March 19, and continues through May 11. An artists’ reception will be held that final day, Sunday, May 11, from 1-3 p.m. in Legacy Hall on the M State Fergus Falls campus.
There is no cost to view the exhibit or attend the artists’ reception, and all are welcome. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Community members may also peruse the exhibit while on campus for the spring play, Empty Bowls fundraiser, commencement ceremony and other upcoming events at the college.
