Future Ready Workforce Grant Applications Being Accepted Now

Attention area businesses! If you currently host an intern(s) from the high school or plan to in the future, you can now be reimbursed for a paid internship at your business.

The Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a “Future Ready Workforce Grant” from the Greater Twin Cities United Way and the Minnesota Chamber Foundation to amplify work experiences for you in the area. The funds will be distributed to businesses as reimbursement for wages paid to student interns in high-demand career areas such as nursing, CDL, manufacturing, technicians, construction trades, child care, education, maintenance, and more. The focus will be on jobs with a median salary of $37,000 or more with growth opportunities in the region.

The Fergus Falls Chamber has a simple application process for businesses to apply for grant funds. The online application can be found at www.fergusfalls.com (go to About the Chamber - About Us - and expand the Strategic Priority for “Support Workforce Strategies” to find a link to the application).

Seventeen employers have applied for grant reimbursement with 30 interns registered.

Please contact Lisa Workman (218-736-6951) at the Fergus Falls Chamber if you would like to register your business for a paid student internship or to learn more.
